How to reach Coimbra

 

If you are arriving Portugal by air, it is preferable to use the Lisbon 's or the Porto 's airports.

From Lisbon you can reach Coimbra by car through the A1 highway direction North, exit Coimbra South, or by train from St. Apolonia station to Coimbra "B" and then to Coimbra "A" down town.

 

 

From Porto you must get the A1 highway direction South, exit Coimbra North, or the train to Coimbra in the Campanha station.

If you are arriving by train, your final destination is Coimbra "B", where you can get a connection to Coimbra "A" down town.

In case you come by car, the normal entrance is through Salamanca , in Spain , to Vilar Formoso in the Portuguese border. From there it is easier that you get the main road IP5 until you find the A1 highway, where you will go south to Coimbra , direction Lisbon , exit Coimbra North.

Unfortunately, there will be no public transport available from the hotels to the track, other than taxi. However, almost all hotels are very near to the track.

The Location

 

Coimbra is located in the central part of Portugal , 200 Kms North from Lisbon , 100 Kms South from Porto and 45 Kms from the Atlantic Ocean .

We have one of the oldest Universities in the World and by this reason Coimbra is visited by numerous tourists, specially during this Time.

 

 

The people of Coimbra is used to receive all foreigners as friends and you will certainly have the opportunity to enjoy their hospitality .

The track, where the Gran Prix will take place, is located in the University Stadium area, very near to the river and just 500 meters away from the city center.

Coimbra has beautiful surroundings that you can visit: Figueira da Foz, where you can have a sea bath; Buçaco, where you can walk through a luxurious forest; or Conimbriga, where you can visit an ancient Roman thermal bath town.

Also the good food and specially the wonderful wine of this region will certainly be appreciated by everybody. Though we permit ourselves to purpose it just for after racing time.
